The National Blood Donors Week on August 1, 2013 and the Moblie Blood Donation (MBD) on September 18, 2013 dedicated its “Dugong Saletino” program to the late ULS President Rev. Fr. Romeo B. Gonzales in commemoration of his unquestionable dedication and commitment to the University.

“Dugong Saletino” operationalized with its internal collaborators, which include College of Nursing (CON), College of Medicine and Allied Medical Programs (CMAMP), College of Midwifery and Public Health (CMPH), La Salette Pananagutan center-Student Volunteers Association (LSPC-SVA), Office of the Vice President for Spiritual and Student Services (VPSSS), Dean for Student Services(DSS), and the Student Executive Council (SEC); and its external partners, Clinical Laboratories of Southern Isabela General Hospital (SIGH) an Callang Medical Center and General Hospital, Inc. (CMCGH), University of La Salette High School (ULSHS) Batch ’86, and Philippine Association of Medical Technologists, INC. (PAMET) Integrated Chapters of Isabela, Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino. As a result, sixty (60) blood units were extracted in the August MBD and eighty (80) blood units were generated in the September MBD. Consequently, “Dugong Saletino” was recognized as the holder of most numbered blood extracted in the school-based regional MBD. The blood units were then stored at the Blood Baank Center of SIGH.

The program sustained that “Every Salettinian Donor is a Hero” and its spirit of giving blood saving life by mobilizing the Junior and senior BMLS students who have undergone the Medical Laboratory Science Internship Program (MLSIP) and by providing free therapeutic blood components/products within the Salettinian community.

“Dugong SAletino,” which marked its Round 3 MBD programs since 2011, is the ULS entry for the NYC’s Ten Oustanding Youth Organization (TAYO) 2013 and the NEDA’s Search for Oustanding Volunteer (SOV) 2013.
