Sports Fest 2014 Opens

With the theme “Better, Faster, Stronger Salettinian”, the Sports Fest 2014 kicked off on the 30th of July, Wednesday, bringing the whole University of La Salette in great festivity.

The program started with the parade and presentation of colleges by their respective deans. Meanwhile, the SAYAWEH, led the invocation, and the Salettinian Dance Troupe and Salettinian HipHop male dancers afterwards presented an intermission number. Also, Mr. Carmelo Patricio showcased his talent in “KATA”, a detailed choreographed movements.

Mr. Arsenio Asuncion, the university sports coordinator, presented last years sports fest winners, the PRISAA national athletes; Carmelo Patricio and Den Derick Domingo, bronze and silver medalists in Karatedo and Taekwando, respectively, served as torchbearers followed by the Pledge of Sportsmanship by Cassandra Dayaoen, Karatedo bronze medalist.

To formally open the Sportsfest 2014, Rev. Fr. Franklin Picio, M.S., the University President,together with the Deans of different colleges spearheaded the cutting of ribbon and releasing of balloons. With zest, each of the colleges also presented their sample cheers to embody the spirit of their respective departments.

We are all Salettinian community and in every competition, we must show  sportsmanship because that is a sign of a Salettinian spirit,”said Fr. Frank in his inspirartional message.
