Three Salettinians Qualify for TOSP 2012

John Carl R. Valdez from the College of Engineering and Architecture and Ma Katrina R. Paat from the College of Information Technology were judged as National Finalists in the Annual Search for the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) while Leonardo A. Gelacio from the College of Education made it as a Regional Finalist. The event was held at Cagayan State University-Andrews Campus, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan on April 26, 2012.

From the 22 exemplary delegates of the different colleges and Universities in Region 02, the University of La Salette took pride for producing two of the 10 outstanding students who will represent Region 02 in the National Search for the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) on June 2012 at Malacañang Palace.

ULS Hosts 2012 Regional IT Fair

Information Technology: Embracing Changes. Improving Lives – theme of the 2012 Regional Information Technology Fair held last March 1-2 2012 at the University of La Salette (ULS) New Gymnasium.

The fair was participated by high school and college students in Region II: Quirino Polytechnic College, Northeastern College, Infant Jesus Montessori School, Southern Isabela College of Arts and Trades, Isabela State University – Echague Campus, La Salette of Roxas, STI College, AMA – Santiago Campus and ULS – Santiago Campus.

The symposium focused on the different trends in the field of Information Technology. Technical sessions on latest programming techniques, web page development, photo and video editing for high school and college were some topics. Products and services of different computer companies were on displayed and a job fair was catered for future employment of graduating students.

Academic competitions were held and the University of La Salette won the Best in Video Editing Award and placed 2nd runner – up in General Programming.

The event was to provide learning and assessment of IT solutions (programming, web development, video editing and the like); updating students and faculty on the latest trends in Information Technology by bringing experienced industry speakers to the event.

As Dr. Evelyn L. Pascua, CESO III Regional Director of the Commission on Higher Education Region 02 said, “We cannot move on unless we learn how to embrace changes.”

ULS Hosts 1st Provincial Oath – Taking of Registered Nurses

The University of L a Salette (ULS) hosted the 1st Provincial Oath – Taking of new registered nurses on October 14, 2011, at the ULS gymnasium. The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), in order to observe austerity during these times held the oath – taking ceremonies in the provinces. At ULS, the ceremony had it for its theme, “Nurturing professional image of a nurse amidst the present realities in nursing.”

The new registered nurses from Isabela State University, Northeastern College, Our Lady of Pillar College, St. Ferdinand College, University of Perpetual Help, and ULS took their oath led by Dr. Rodrigo Balaqui, Ph.Dsd, Director of PRC Region II.

The regional topnotchers were announced; Christine Marzo, RN (Top 8), from ULS.

Levita Manglapus – Castro, Ph. D and ULS Vice President for Academics expressed the school’s offer to conduct similar activities for other professions in the future.
