First Pinilakang Tabing Inter – Collegiate Film Fest held

With the goal harnessing multiple intelligences, the Alyansa ng Pangmadlang Komunikasyon (ALPAKOM) under the Communication Arts from the College of Arts and Sciences organized the First Pinilakang Tabing Inter – Collegiate Sport Film Festival last February 2012. The said event held its Awards Night on February 18, 2012 at the Old Gymnasium, University of La Salette. The said event was a competition of the different colleges in the University with their produced short films.

Prior o the film viewing on February 14 – 17 was the launching of the film trailers. Six participating colleges also posted their promotional posters. Film entries from different Colleges were “The Reason” from the College of Accountancy, “Solenn: My Crazy Valentine,” College of Business Administration, “Ang Alamat ng Talong Estudyante,” College of Engineering and Architecture, “Forbidden Love” from The College of Medicine and Allied Programs, “Sa Piling Mo” from The College of Nursing and “Bakas” from The College of Arts and Sciences.

The most awaited part of the fest was the Awards Night attended by the directors, actors and actresses of the films, visitors, presenters from different colleges with their formal wear. Special awards were given to as follows: Best in Promotional Poster: Solenn: My Crazy Valentine; Best in Musical Score: Solenn: My Crazy Valentine; Best in Production Design: Solenn: My Crazy Valentine; Best in Script Writing: Bakas; Best in Editing: Ang Alamat ng Tatlong Estudyante; Best in Visual Effects: Ang Alamat ng Tatlong Estudyante; Best Supporting Actress: Angela Jose, Bakas; Best Supporting Actor: Charles Lejano, Ang Alamat ng Tatlong Estudyante; Best Actor: Sylvester John Asingayan, The Reason; Best Actress: Kay Perez, Bakas; People’s Choice Award: Solenn: My Crazy Valentine; Best Director: Pjhay Manuel, Bakas; Best Picture:

The judges who did the critique were Mr. Joseph Patawi, Mr. Percival Lumauig, Ms. Maritha Manubay, Ms. Lorelei Agcanas and Ms. Marissa Hernando.

 

Salettinians Bag Awards at HRAB Annual Competition

ULS BS HRM 2 and BS HRM 3 attended the HRAB (Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio) 8th Hotel and Restaurant Tourism Weekend 2011 at Baguio City on August 29 to September 2011.

Kevin Vergara, BSHRM 3 bagged the Silver Medal in the Floral Competition while the team of JB Baccay (BS HRM 4), April Hazel Ching (BS HRM 3), Don Paulo Vallejo (BS HRM 2), Albert Galura (BS GRM 2) and Aisa Lou Valenzuela (BS HRM 2) won the Bronze Medal on the Garden Wedding Reception Stage Decoration (Outdoor) Competition.

Other winners were the Three – Man team of Francis Danglay, Theresa Dungca and Ma. Katrina Santos, BS HRM Juniors who ranked 5th in the Bed making Competition – Free Style Student Division and Alysa Ranos BS HRM 3, who ranked 6th in the Bartending and Mixology Competition. In the Table – Setting (Filipino Style), the tag team duo of RD Gonzaga and Melbie Bongbonga, both HRM Sophomores, landed 5th place.

Kristine Marie Tan (BS HRM 3), Ellen Marie Vidaira (BS HRM 3) and Dan Reene Morales (BS HRM 2) won 8th Place in the Quiz Bee Competition. JB Baccay and Irish Cassandra Yumul of BS HRM 3 took home Certificates from the Focal Lobby Display Competition.

Once more, Baguio – the famous Culinary Capital of the North – partnered with the Hotel and Restaurant association of Baguio in staging the most prestigious 8th Annual Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Weekend. The event provided on opportunity for the 32 contenders from the different Higher Education Institutions and State Universities and Colleges in Luzon, culinary experts and food connoisseurs in the hospitality industry around the country to gather, foster camaraderie and solidarity as well as gain useful knowledge.

 

 

 

ULS – PHISMETS Hosts 1st Cagayan Valley Congress

“Towards a Macroscopic dream, Onward to Microscopic Realities” – with this theme, the Philippine society of Medical Technology Students University of La Salette Chapter, hosted the 1st Cagayan Valley Regional Congress last November 21, 2011 at the ULS Center for Progress and Development (CPD). The activity aimed to foster unity among schools and students to express and gauge their skills in the congress competitions held. Delegates to the Congress included medical technologists from Manila, Baguio, Nueva Ecija and Pampanga.

Lectures were given by resource speakers, namely: “Medical Laboratory Science Career and Professional Dimensions” by Dean Eugene Dayag, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Manila, “Safety Management in Clinical Laboratory Practice” by Prof. Christina Widwidan, Paradigm and Pedagogy by Dean Rhodora B. Balunsat, College of Education, University of La Salette and “Competency Standards in MLS profession” by the PAMETH Chapter President Perlita M. Bautista.

Afternoon sessions were reserved for the different competitions which included Microtone, Impromptu Oratorical, Who Wants to be a Laboratory Scientists and Tumbling Motility. The University of La Salette also gained two regional titles: Mr. PHISMETS, Mr. Arian Joseph Gonzales and Impromptu Oratorical Champion, Ms. Liezel Asuncion.

On January 21, 2012, the PHISMETS ULS Chapter won two national awards in the 4th Annual Congress at the Manila Central University: SPECTROPHOTO – making contest by Mr. Emjay Ariola and Computer – generated Poster Making by Mr. Dyno Esteban.
